FIeld Technician

Field Technician

LAUKOA is seeking Field Technicians to support cultural resource management work in Texas along the U.S./Mexico border.

This is a temporary position for a field based cultural resources recovery project offering at least 40 hours a week and expected to last 3 weeks.

Applicant must be able to pass a federal and state background check, as well as a drug test as part of the pre-employment process for project-based assignments.

Per Diem is provided at federal rates.

Responsibilities:

  • Recording of cultural resources
  • Testing, excavation, and data recovery
  • Completion of daily activity logs
  • Communication and coordination with LAUKOA team members

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or professional internships
  • Familiarity with environmental and cultural regulations including but not limited to NHPA, NEPA, ARPA, and NAGPRA
  • Ability to identify historic and pre-contact artifacts and features
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills. Experience recording recording/writing technical data a plus
  • Detail oriented and proactive in troubleshooting/problem solving in the field
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to operate a 4WD vehicle
  • Ability to work in very remote areas and in rugged terrain
  • Ability to withstand high outdoor temperatures
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40lbs
