Surge Support Technical Support Specialists
*This position is on an as-needed surge support basis and not a full-time role
Summary:
This position is intended to fill in as a surge capacity force in support of the Department of Homeland Security’s Mobile Detection Deployment Program (MDDP). These surge assets are designed to supplement Federal and State partners' and first responders' existing CBRN detection and reporting capabilities in support of national and other special security events. The program is growing into the full spectrum of CBRN detection; however the emphasis of this support is focused on radiological/nuclear detection operations and instrumentation. The nature of the surge force will be voluntary and managed on a rotational basis for scheduled events and short notice requested to deploy.
When activated for surge support, this position supports mission-critical Department of Homeland Security Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) operations. Personnel must be capable of supporting surge deployments, intelligence-driven operations, National Special Security Events (NSSE), and steady-state detection missions. Travel, extended hours, 24/7 shift work, weekends, holidays, and recall during contingency operations may be required.
This task-based, part-time position deploys in support of MDDP operations, at a minimum, twice per fiscal year to Supports operational duties and activities by maintaining equipment, tactics, techniques and providing operational support at the bequest of the government.
