Construction Quality Control Officer

  • Construction Quality Control Officer Reports to: Senior Construction Quality Control Manager
  • Salary range: $105,000 - $135,000
  • Secret Clearance is preferred

SUMMARY:

As the Construction Quality Control Officer, you will support the implementation of quality control processes and procedures for construction projects in the Northwest region. Working under the guidance of the Senior Construction Quality Control Manager, you will conduct inspections, audits, and tests to ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and codes. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will contribute to the successful delivery of construction projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in developing and implementing quality control plans and procedures for construction projects, in alignment with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of construction sites to verify compliance with quality control standards, specifications, and codes.
  • Perform tests and measurements as required to assess the quality of construction materials, workmanship, and installations.
  • Document and report quality control activities, findings, and non-conformances to project stakeholders and management.
  • Assist in coordinating with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to construction quality control.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Construction Quality Control Manager to continuously improve quality control processes and procedures based on feedback and lessons learned.
  • Support the preparation and review of project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and submittals, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Follow up on corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and non-conformances identified during inspections and audits.
  • Stay informed about industry standards, codes, and regulations related to construction quality control and incorporate relevant updates into project processes and procedures.

DAILY DUTIES:

  • Conduct daily inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Document and report any non-compliance issues or quality concerns observed during inspections to the Senior Construction Quality Control Manager.
  • Monitor and verify the proper installation and use of materials, equipment, and tools according to approved plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and construction teams to address quality-related issues and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Perform material testing and inspection activities as required by project specifications and quality control plans.
  • Review and approve subcontractor quality control documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and quality assurance records.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of quality control records, reports, and documentation in compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings to promote awareness of quality control procedures and safe work practices among construction personnel.

WEEKLY DUTIES:

  • Attend weekly quality control meetings with project teams to discuss inspection findings, quality trends, and corrective actions taken.
  • Review and update project-specific quality control plans and procedures to address emerging issues and ensure ongoing compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct weekly audits of construction activities and quality control documentation to identify areas for improvement and ensure consistency with project specifications.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and construction teams to address recurring quality issues and implement preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for construction personnel on quality control procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Prepare weekly quality control reports summarizing inspection results, corrective actions, and compliance status for review by project management and client representatives.

MONTHY DUTIES:

  • Compile monthly quality control data and performance metrics to track trends, identify areas for improvement, and report on overall project quality status.
  • Review subcontractor performance evaluations and quality control records to assess compliance with project requirements and performance standards.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to ensure alignment with quality control procedures and industry standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of corrective action plans to address systemic quality issues and improve overall project quality performance.
  • Participate in monthly project review meetings with project management and client representatives to discuss quality control metrics, compliance status, and project progress.
  • Support the Senior Construction Quality Control Manager in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and the resolution of complex quality-related issues.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Inspection Completion Rate: Ensure timely completion of inspections as per project schedule and requirements.
  • Compliance with Quality Standards: Maintain a high level of compliance with quality control standards and regulatory requirements across all construction projects.
  • Timeliness of Reporting: Submit accurate and timely reports on quality control activities, findings, and non-conformances.
  • Accuracy of Test Results: Ensure accurate and reliable test results through proper execution of testing procedures and protocols.
  • Participation in Training: Actively participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in construction quality control.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Construction Quality Control Officer does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality control standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Three to five years previous experience in construction quality control or related field (preferred)
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and practices
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Continually required to talk or hear
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Boots, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, High Visibility Vest)
  • Travel is required
