Locksmith – Facilities Support Services

Location: Fort Meade, MD

Position Summary

LAUKOA is seeking a qualified Locksmith to support facilities operations at Fort Meade, Maryland. This position performs locksmith services, key control, lock maintenance, lock repair, re-keying, combination changes, emergency lock response, and related access control support for Government-owned facilities. The selected candidate will support secure facility operations while complying with contract requirements, applicable security procedures, safety standards, and established key control requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform locksmith services for Government facilities, including installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of locks, cores, keys, and related hardware.
  • Install lock cores, re-core and re-pin locks, duplicate approved keys, manufacture keys, and replace lock cores as required.
  • Change combinations for safes, GSA containers, electronic locks, and entry control devices.
  • Provide emergency access support for lock devices when a key or combination is not available.
  • Maintain and repair card key locks, including annual and as-needed battery replacement.
  • Support maintenance of door operators, request-to-exit (REX) sensors, AI phone systems, and related access control components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair specialized locks, electronic locks, and secure facility locking systems.
  • Maintain a key control log and ensure all key issuance, re-issuance, returns, and removals are properly documented.
  • Coordinate locksmith service requests with authorized Government representatives, security personnel, and site leadership.
  • Receive, update, and close out locksmith-related service orders in the CMMS.
  • Maintain appropriate locksmith tools, materials, replacement locks, and spare parts.
  • Respond to lockout and lock failure requests in accordance with contract response requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while complying with all environmental, safety, security, and contract requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing locksmith services in commercial, institutional, industrial, secure facility, or Government environments.
  • Must be a GSA Certified Locksmith.
  • Must have experience working with GSA-approved locks, electronic locks, key control systems, and secure facility locking hardware.
  • Must have or be able to maintain certifications required to work on specialized locks used under the contract.
  • Experience using a CMMS, work order system, or similar tracking system preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of locksmith practices, key control procedures, lock hardware, and secure facility access requirements.
  • Ability to work on specialized locks such as Trilogy, CDX-10 series, Simplex, LKM-700, or current GSA standard lock series.
  • Ability to install, repair, re-core, re-pin, and maintain mechanical and electronic locking systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate key control records and follow strict security procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot lock failures and support emergency lock access requirements.
  • Basic computer skills sufficient to receive work assignments, update CMMS records, enter data, and complete required documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary facilities support team.

Security Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Must comply with all site access, badge, key control, access control, and secure facility requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, hardware, and equipment consistent with the duties of the position.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and perform repetitive hand and tool work for extended periods.
  • Ability to work on doors, frames, locks, safes, access control devices, and related hardware in occupied Government facilities.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying facility conditions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency lockout or lock failure requirements as needed.

Wage Rate

  • Between $60.00 - $80.00 per hour (included is $5.09 for Health & Welfare)
