HAZMAT Instructor

Summary: This position provides HAZMAT/Awareness and HAZMAT/Operations training to students in Military serving in a CBRN Response Enterprise (CRE) positions as a member of a Mobile Training Team (MTT).

Job Description

  • Follow approved Programs of Instruction for the HAZMAT/Awareness and HAZMAT/Operations Course and teach learning objectives to standard
  • Ensure the total time, training devices used, and topics are IAW approved POIs and lesson plans
  • Present classroom and field instruction on technical capabilities of equipment and systems associated with HAZMAT/Awareness and HAZMAT/Operations
  • Conduct a periodic review of the POI and make recommendations to update the POI
  • Assist in preparation, set-up, and tear-down of necessary equipment, including vehicles prior to and at the conclusion of daily operations
  • Perform limited emergency repairs such as changing tires, fuse replacements, etc. at the discretion and abilities of the operator, based on established procedures and the extent of repair needed
  • Clean vehicles and equipment upon completion of training
  • Ensure that loading/unloading and operation of military equipment/system vehicles is done safely and that cargo (e.g., supplies, materials) and military personnel are appropriately protected

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of first responder HAZMAT related instructor experience
  • IFSAC HAZMAT Technician Level (NFPA 470 Chapter 11)
  • Complete Instructor certification (Common Faculty Development Instructor Course (CFD-IC) qualified instructor) or similar instructor certification program
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
